Props(Vampires)

Blood is a widely used prop for the Vampires. You see it lots through out the movie. The Vampires drink it in manny ways. They have it with coffee , pure straight blood in a cup with ice and manny other forms of drinking it. It's the main prop because the idea of blood is one of the main factors of the film. the supplies left. Look at the scene here when a coffee shop tells a man he can only have 5% blood with his coffee.

Blood and Ice

This is a scene that relay explains why blood is a main prop(Motif) in the film for the Vampires. As any film with Vampires Blood is always a main factor for the film. It what they live and feed on. It show why the Vampires have a craving for blood and that they can't live with out it. Even the people serving the blood once they close the shop are trying to get some of the spilt blood.

The Mixture of liquids that they have used to make the blood has given it a thick look to it, more then it would normally be like in other Vampire films. They have done this due to blood being one of the main factors of the film. There wanting it to stand out to be more then just blood, they want it to be everywhere and to be one of the things that make you remember the film.

Props(Humans)

Ethan Hawk(Left) and Willem Dafoe(Right)
Humans
The Crossbow is a widely used prop in the film. The humans use them through out as protection from the Vampires. The Arrows are dipped in a small layer of holly water to ward of the Vampires after they have been shot. The Crossbow is used as a great Motif in the way that it helps make the humans individual different to the Vampires. It helps you remember that they are human and not Vampires.
The use the crossbows with no fear and will strike at any time for the protection that they need. Through out the film they use it to protect them from Ethan Hawks character, they know that he won't hurt them but they use it anyway as a sign to say that I'm more powerful then you and that humans will rise once again. In the past Crossbows have been used in manny other movies. One film is Van Helsing when human Character Van Helsing(Played By Hugh Jackman. He uses the crossbow for the some thing and the similarities between the two characters is very alike.

Charles Bromley(Part 4)

Charles relaxing and having a glass of blood
So in conclusion  Charles is the typical American Bad Guy in most American made movies. He wants all the power and is willing to sacrifice anything to get what he wants. He does not fell pity and does not fell fear until his own life is on the break of edge. He does not care about anyone but himself and is fast with he's plains to get rid of someone for good. But as always with these types of films he does get his own way and dies leaving the good guys to win.
Charles at first felt like what he was doing was for the good of the nation, but he fell to the victim of power and control and in general he started to become what i have described about him.

Charles Bromley(Part 3)

Camera Angles
The Camera angles used around this character Represents a high stranded of power. When ever he is around over people that are weaker then him the angle is always below another character. This is representing the power over the over characters, but later on in the film when the humans start to return things slowly start to change and the camera angles make him look like he’s weak.

Charles and his Daugter Alison
 Dialogue
The dialogue that Sam is giving out in this film works well for this Character, you get a sense of this guy, the creepiness, the power and in a way the quietness of him that makes him freaky.

Charles Bromley(Part 2)

Charles Bromley(Sam Neil) and his employes
Costume and Make up
The Characters Costume and Hair Style is what you would Expect from this Character. It's very slick and simple and makes him look like he belongs in the room of an office. The Hair style is pulled back and he wears a suite for the whole film. In the end it's giving the feeling he he is a business man.
The Make up is like all the other characters in the film. They have a pale side to them but not to pale like Twilight and there is a slight bit of eyeliner on him.

Another great thing they have done with this Character is that the eye's are brighter in colure then others in the film. I think they have done this to enhances the look of the Glance's that he gives allot through out the film.

Charles Bromley(Part 1)

Charles Bromley(Sam Neil)
Who is this Character
In the film Daybreakers we have one of the main Characters Charles Bromley(Played by Sam Neil) Who is the Company owner of the research Lab that Farms humans for blood. This Character is a great example of a Patriarchy male. With in the film he is represented as a nice and kind person. But to the people who know him well he is a scary and fearful Vampire. You could compare him in a way to the Master in 'Buffy,People obey him and do what there told just like the Master. When it comes to the way he looks he does not look ugly like the Master Does, but the facial Expressions are very alike. From what i see from this Character i believe that the Director has got his inspiration from The Master.
Now when People Disobey him things don't turn out well. This Guy has no feelings for other Vampires and will kill them if they do not do as there told, here again we find another similarity to The Master. This Character gives a posture that i have not seen in a long time. He stands tall but at the some time looks relaxed. This then makes him look like a simple man and someone who should not be feared, but reality he's not that. Another great thing Sam Neil has don with this Character is the Glances he gives to other Charters. When ever you look into his eyes there is a feeling that you should fear him. He does this all the time even when he is putting on a act of being kind. Look at the clip below of Sam Neil's Charter when he meets his Daughter for the first time in ages.

Breaking down the scene(Part 4)

Facial Expressions(Part 2)
In the screen shot on the top left we have just reached the end of the scene and Edward has pored all Frankie's bottle of blood down the sink. Frankie's look gives a felling of I'm angry at you for doing that. The look is then building up the tension between them even more ,Edward(Bottom left) gives this look as to say 'I give up' ,'You win' or ' I'm sorry. All of that builds up to him throwing the bottle on the wall.

All the things i have talked about have all helped to lead up to that final breaking point at the end. The director has done this scene incredibly well to give a insight of a Vampier Argument.

One thing about this scene is that it is a very typical American type setting Edward is representing a character who wants to be separate from the others and does not want to be like them. Frankie is the normal Type of character that is like everyone else in the scene.

Breaking Down the scene(Part 3)

Facial Expressions
There are many types of different facial expressions going on in this scene. manly because the scene go's from a causal conversation to viscous agreement within in seconds.some of the expressions in the scene are like the screen shoot on the left . When Edward tells Frankie that he does not drink human blood he is giving this look as to say something on the lines of' are you stupid' or 'thats just weird'. This is a look which i think helps change the scene from a causal conversation to a terrible argument.

In this Screen shoot  to the right with Edward the fight has just reached breaking point. The Expressions that Edward is giving out in this shoot is that he is wanting some relief from this agreement. He's brother is going off at him about how they are making a fake blood and he can't stand the stress that is building up. The look of the eyes closed all gives a felling that he just wants some relief.

Breaking down the scene(Part 2)

Costume
(Very cool type costume on Frankie that makes him look
strong and powerful )
Costume in this scene is pretty  ordinary, this is because the director is wanting you to believe that these Vampers still live like normal humans do. Edward in the scene is wearing a work suit but Frankie  on the other hand is not like that he is in jacket and more causal look to give that fell of im stronger then you and i go beter things then you do.
Edward wears the suite because he works in a office all the time, the white may also represent a sense of goodness on the Character because of him not drinking human blood.

Make up
(Costume makes him  look
like he has just come back from work or is going)
The Make up on this Actors is basic, they don't seam to have gone over the top with is like in Twilight, they have kept it basic to do what i have said all ready and that is to try and make them seam like they are still human. But when you look in there eyes you are reminded that they are still Vampers and it's just they live like humans. They also have the Vampier like fangs, but there small because the director want's you to fell like they still live like humans, Remember even the smallest things can help add to the fell of a scene.

Breaking down the scene(Part 1)

Camera Angles
(Camera is kind of below shoulder)
In the scene i have chosen the Camera angles are very clever. The Majority of the scene the camera is place below the actors and is looking up to them. This then gives a sense of power to both the characters and makes them like there bigger and better then us people watching the film.

(Lighting is coming from cooktop
lights and the light above
the middle table and light
at end of kickten)

Lighting
In the scene all of the lighting is coming from the light's on the set, there does not seam to be any trace of off stage lighting. I think they choose to do this to remind you that they are Vampiras and that the tend to live in darkness. The Lighting is also well used in a way to represent danger and fear of the Characters. If it was to light you would not believe that they are Real Vampires and what they do is all fake.

What is the Clip About?

In the clip of Daybreakers that i provided before we have the main character of the film Edward(played by Ethan Hawk) and his brother Frankie(played by Michael dorman). Both these Characters are Vampira's in the film. During this conversation Frankie discovers that the compony his brother is working for is creating a substitute fake blood due to the earth's human race slowly becoming extinct. But Frankie does not like this idea he thinks it's stupid because it's not real blood but Edward on the other hand likes it because Edward does not drink human blood, he fells sorry for the humans, but not just that he does not want to be a Vampire, his sick of staying the some age over and over again . His brother loves it because it means he can leave for ever.

Introduction to Vampirism(Part 2)

Death of a Vampira

When a Vampira dies it's not like how a normal human would pass away. There skin lose all there fluid and contract, this then exposes the roots of there hair, nails and teeth.

Legends of  the Vampira

Some people in the past have hypothesize that the legend if the Vampira where influenced by people being buried alive because of the short medical knowledge in the that era of time.
There where manny cases of people reporting sounds from certain coffins. They where latter dug up to find fingernail marks on the lid of the coffin due to the victim trying to escape.

From the darn of the myth Vampire’s where known as mythological or folkloric beings. These beings are known for there sucking of blood on other living creatures. It would not mater if the creature was alive or deceased, they will go and take blood anyway. But the term Vampire did not exist all those years ago. The term of sucking blood and similar activities where attributed to demons and spirits.
